I am a little Clown,
And I write a little Blog,
I update weekly comics,
And I live in a swamp bog.

Here it is the moment of truth, the last panel in the first Jane Rose saga!

I have been working on a big ass painting for a few weeks now. I put in a few more hours over the weekend here are some details:

Clown Party 2 Detail 1:

Clown Party 2 Detail 2:

For this week’s influences section I paid a visit to the Brooklyn Museum of Art over the weekend and went to the Takashi Murakami exhibit. Very interesting work. I was very impressed with the images, video and sculpture, but as I walked through the exhibit I read the facts posted on the walls of the gallery and I learned that Takashi Murakami does not actually “make” most of his works. Now, he does conceptualize them on his computer, he designs them, does all the layout and planning, but when it comes to the actual process of creating the work, he hires “masters” to execute the physical work. I know many many artists throughout history have done this, but I still don’t know if I like it or agree with it. For me, his work lost a bit of integrity when I found out this little fact. I took a few stills with my cellphone camera so they look like shit but here you go:

I poked around on youtube and found an interview with Takashi Murakami, that was produced by MOCA in LA. If I ever get the chance to produce another television series about artists I bet I could make a more interesting “Takashi Murakami” segment, given the amount and variety of content.

In other news:

I asked the question last week if folks thought weekly Blight postings were too much. The majority voted and the clowntastic postings will continue to be weekly.

Well that’s it for this week folks. Stay tuned for more clown-ariffic antics every week here in the Blight Productions half-hour hour comedy hour.

Side note:

I am wondering how many of you are enjoying my weekly blog postings? Would you all prefer I post to the blog monthly or weekly? Please let me know your feelings on this ASAP. Email me @ brian(at)

On a personal note:

Last week I got a big nasty grape sized sty cut out of my left eyelid. It hurt like hell. And over the last few days it has felt like I have had sandpaper under my eyelid. I guess this is because the scab formed where they made the cut under my eyelid. It has sucked. Just thought you would like to know.

Take care,

Even though she is still kicking Blight’s Clowny ass, she is an awesome artist friend and film-making special effects guru. She will be in 2 more comics before we know just what she’s after. So check out her website:

Here is another drawing I finished over the last week. I plan on colorizing it next week, but I thought you all might like to see the black and white version this week.

Comic #12a, SL haunted house, another influential video, and it’s hot as hell tonight!!

June 9, 2008

Well good golly, it’s so damn hot outside my gigantic clown balls are sticking to the side of my leg!

Oh my, what kind of language is that? Who wants to read that kind of shit? I know the only reason you people check out this site is to see the next exciting episode of everyone’s favorite clown. You are in luck, I just finished this week’s extra special comic. This is the first panel in another strip inspired by my real life. My good friend, “Little Jane Rose” is introduced to the world of Blight this week in the first part of a four part continuing miniseries. These are extra large panel drawings so they are being released as a miniseries. Enjoy the adventure:

Although Little Jane Rose seems to be a crazy psychopathic abuser of clowns, she is actually an extremely talented special effects makeup artist and filmmaker in real life. For more about this talented clown abusing psychopath check out her website:

Haunted Hotel in Second Life

I have been building a crazy haunted house in the video game virtual world “Second Life”. It is 5 floors featuring textures made from a photo of an actual haunted house I took on a visit to New Orleans a few years ago, a spiral tunnel, crazy ghosts, a demonic labyrinth, a torture room, a mad scientist laboratory, and many many more creepy surprises! I will be posting updates here on the progress of the house and the sim. When it is finished I will post a url so you can experience the insanity!

This week’s influential video clip:

This video was featured on youtube’s front page a few weeks ago. It reminds me of some of the work I was doing back in college, but to a much, much larger degree. When I was working on making animations with a pencil, eraser and a sketchbook, this guy is using the walls of buildings, paint and an entire city as his canvas. When I saw this video it completely blew my mind. While watching this just remember that every image is a complete painting photographed with a still camera. The scale of this is just incredible.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned next week: subscribe to the blog, the mailing list, the facebook page, myspace or anything else that will send you reminders about your favorite clown-arific blog! All the required links are here:

This weeks Influential artist

—The Residents – Wormwood – Burn Baby Burn—

The Residents are one of my earliest creative influences. I was fortunate enough to experience the Wormwood tour(1998) live at the 9:30 club in D.C., and in many ways it changed the way I viewed art. This was the first time I had ever seen music, painting, spoken word, and theater combined on the same stage in such a way. The dedication and passion that the Residents put into everything they do it phenomenal. This is only a small taste of the massive career this group has had. And guess what, they are touring again this year. If you get the chance go and see them, DO IT, it is a life changing experience.

Well thats all I got for you this week, stay tuned for next weeks exciting adventures.
