2 BLIND MICE – A NEW GAME

This is a little commercial I made to promote a new game I helped create called “2 BLIND MICE”. For more information and the official rules, please visit: http://www.2-blind-mice.com

2 BLIND MICE (A working title)
A New Game By
Isadora Dantas, Ta-En Kuo, & Brian A. Bernhard

Objective:
Be the first team to collect the gold coin!
Summery:
Players will be divided into two teams. The teams will be divided into two parts, the “EYES”, and the “HANDS”. The “EYES” cannot move and the “HANDS” cannot see. There will be a series of colored coins placed within the game area. The “EYES” must direct the “HANDS” with a series of single word commands to collect all the appropriate colored coins to gain access to and collect the gold coin for the win.

PROFESSOR VON GOITER TEST ANIMATIC

So, I was asked to make an animatic for my class in Parsons. Professor Von Goiter is a little character I have been working on in a little comic strip, I have not yet released yet. He may yet see the light of day as an animated short.

The music is politely borrowed for this school assignment from the track, “Despair” composed by Ennio Morricone off the soundtrack for the movie, “The Thing”.

BLIGHT’S LIL’ FLIPBOOK

This here is just a little 50 frame animation I did for the MFA program at Parsons, that I am currently enrolled in.

Thanks for giving it a little look-see!

Thanks,

March 9, 2009

Howdy there my famous frolicking friends,

This week, I wanted to let you all know about something stupendously super cool! My clown-noir extravaganza short movie “A CLOWN CAROL” is screening at one of the east coasts most awesome film festivals, Saturday March 14th at “The 2009 Backseat Film Festival”. The awesomeness doesn’t stop there! My crazy little clown movie looks like it is going to be the last movie that screens before the days main event! The amazing filmmaker Adam Rifkin, director of great movies like, “The Dark Backward” & “Detroit Rock City” will be presenting his new move, “Homo Erectus”!

Come out to the fest if you can, I will be there all weekend long, so if you ever wanted to chat with me about my wacky clown movies, just find me! Or email me and let me know you are coming!

HERE IT COMES: THE LOVE STORY – a new clown movie, a new comic strip Introducing PROFESSOR VON GOITER, and some other news.

January 26, 2009

Howdy, my little frolicking fillies,

I have been churning out the madness here at the Blight Productions Big-Top. The ass is getting kicked on my latest clown movie “THE LOVE STORY”, and I made a poster to prove it! I have also been developing a new character to bring to life in the form of a sequential art series, “PROFESSOR VON GOITER – the worlds most miserable private dick. ” So take a look down at the rest of the blog and enjoy all the new shit!

-THE LOVE STORY-

“Gotta’ keep the park clean”

It’s coming, it will soon be here….

Another clown movie from Blight Productions:

THE LOVE STORY – “Gotta’ Keep The Park Clean”

This is the first sneak peak into the live action/animated/ moving picture world of CLOWNLAND. The movie features Jef Johnson (Slava’s Snowshow and Cirque du Soleil) as both the boy clown and a hot lady clown. I am working on the movie as fast as I can, but hopefully in the next few weeks, I can upload a trailer. The clowns were photographed by Chris Borgman and the composition, backgrounds and photoshopping was done by me.

—————————————————————————————————————————-

A NEW COMIC STRIP

INTRODUCING: PROFESSOR VON GOITER – The worlds most miserable private dick

Here are some drawings that I am working on to develop the story of this sad little man:

NEWS:

Just a few notes to end on, the TOTS show last week at Otto’s Shrunken Head was amazing, I thank you all for being there. Below is a little animated gif to show you how awesome it was! Also, don’t forget that the amazing live action play that I created videos for “THE SPIN CYCLE” is still running, I saw the whole thing all the way through last Thursday and it’s brilliant!!!! Check out http://www.inkythumbs.com for more details.

Oh WAIT, in other cool news, I finally got my last clown movie, “A CLOWN CAROL” listed on the IMDB, and suprisingly a complete stranger wrote a really kick ass review of it. Check out the page here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1347025/ or just read the excerpt below:

“Wow, was this a wonderful but frustrating film from Brian A. Bernhard. He came up with a marvelously absurd idea yet the film really isn’t finished–and there are no more clown movies!! The film is a very strange tale. It’s the old Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” but with a twist. It’s performed by clowns AND it’s a murder mystery!! Seeing the clowns’ antics made me laugh and laugh (even more than when I watch chimps dressed as humans–but it’s all good) but the problems are that the film ended only part-way into the story!! It’s really NOT a complete short film but looks more like a promotional film made to secure financial backers. But, until the film is completed (and I assume they will), I am stuck waiting–and I liked it way too much to want to wait!!! Plus, at this point, it appears that this is the only clown film he made–and I honestly would LOVE to see more literary classics lampooned this way.

The film features an odd but very effective use of CGI with live action, great pantomime, screwy and hilarious dialog and lots of nice twists. And if you are reading this review, Mr. Bernhard, I want more. Not later–NOW!!! You have a lot of talent but I feel like a kid who got to peak at a huge pile of Christmas presents and then was told “you can just open them NEXT Christmas…or some time in the future”.”

Comic #12a, SL haunted house, another influential video, and it’s hot as hell tonight!!

June 9, 2008

Well good golly, it’s so damn hot outside my gigantic clown balls are sticking to the side of my leg!

Oh my, what kind of language is that? Who wants to read that kind of shit? I know the only reason you people check out this site is to see the next exciting episode of everyone’s favorite clown. You are in luck, I just finished this week’s extra special comic. This is the first panel in another strip inspired by my real life. My good friend, “Little Jane Rose” is introduced to the world of Blight this week in the first part of a four part continuing miniseries. These are extra large panel drawings so they are being released as a miniseries. Enjoy the adventure:

(Click here to visit the comic archives)

Although Little Jane Rose seems to be a crazy psychopathic abuser of clowns, she is actually an extremely talented special effects makeup artist and filmmaker in real life. For more about this talented clown abusing psychopath check out her website: http://www.jane-rose.com/

In other news:

Haunted Hotel in Second Life

I have been building a crazy haunted house in the video game virtual world “Second Life”. It is 5 floors featuring textures made from a photo of an actual haunted house I took on a visit to New Orleans a few years ago, a spiral tunnel, crazy ghosts, a demonic labyrinth, a torture room, a mad scientist laboratory, and many many more creepy surprises! I will be posting updates here on the progress of the house and the sim. When it is finished I will post a url so you can experience the insanity!

This week’s influential video clip:

This video was featured on youtube’s front page a few weeks ago. It reminds me of some of the work I was doing back in college, but to a much, much larger degree. When I was working on making animations with a pencil, eraser and a sketchbook, this guy is using the walls of buildings, paint and an entire city as his canvas. When I saw this video it completely blew my mind. While watching this just remember that every image is a complete painting photographed with a still camera. The scale of this is just incredible.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned next week: subscribe to the blog, the mailing list, the facebook page, myspace or anything else that will send you reminders about your favorite clown-arific blog! All the required links are here: http://www.blightproductions.com

Blight’s big nose, Jackson Sq, Vampires, ART in Germany and a pretty rainbow!

May 19, 2008

Hello my super fine funk-defied clowntactic prople,

Boy-Oh-Boy, I sure have had a lot going on this week. Which is basically my way of saying, “there ain’t gonna’ be a lot of stuff in this weeks blog”. Well I don’t know, it’s 2AM on Sunday night and I just got back from helping my friend on a movie shoot. Let’s see what kind of stuff rambles out before I pass out!!

On the table first, just because you are such a sexy crowd, is:

Oooh! My thought patterns are getting weak, I can’t think of anything to say about this weeks comic. I just hope you all dig it. I have a bunch more on the way, been drawing until my fingers are cramped and raw, just for you people.

Just today I was working on a friends movie shoot. I can’t tell you anything about it just yet other than the fact that the thing is gonna be fantastic and it features one of New York City’s greatest acting talents, Mr. Jerrod Bogard, you all know him as “Crachie the Clown” from “A Clown Carol”, (you know the one whose fingernail fell off), and it’s a vampire movie. If you want to find out about the movie check out Biff Juggernaut Productions.

Anyway, as my mind slowly shuts down…
While we were shooting, we started to get a little misty drizzle, everyone was thinking, “Crap, we gonna’ get rained out!”, but no, we looked up and there was a huge rainbow reaching out of this bazaar nightmarish silo and stretching clear across the sky.

An just because I am such a nice little clown, I also finally posted a cool panorama shot of Jackson Square Park in New Orleans a few years ago. Check it out.

Blight the Clown gets a lil’ sad in Comic #8, and GO OUT AND WATCH POULTRYGEIST!!

May 11, 2008

In this week’s “Missing Adventure”, Blight the Clown gets sad, and boy oh boy, do the shenanigans ensue.

:::Click here to look at previous week’s comic strips::

So, I started like 6 drawings this week and I am still working on my latest painting, which is why I have not scanned in any more art other than the new comic. I have not had the time to color anything else. But next week will be flooded with new images.

The one really fun thing I did this weekend was go to the NYC premiere of the latest Troma Entertainment cinematic masterpiece:

Poultrygeist – Night of the Chicken Dead
WARNING THIS VIDEO CLIP IS NOT FOR SMALL CHILDREN
(Unless you want them to become chicken zombies)

http://www.troma.com/

This gruesomely graphic musical masterpiece of hilarious sexploitation shock cinema was well worth my 12 dollars! It’s got everything a Troma fan could want!  Lesbian orgies, toilet-shit-splattered deaths, singing, dancing, chicken zombies, porn stars, decapitations, masturbation, and anything and everything else your week hearts might find offensive.  Good old Lloyd Kaufman did it again. I knew he would, because I had the good fortune of interviewing him last year for my television series “ART or something like it” and I got a sneak peak of the new film. You all should run right out and watch this movie now. If it is not playing at your local movie theater, go there and protest outside the theater until they get a copy. DEMAND POULTRYGEIST AT YOUR LOCAL THEATER!!!

Watch Lloyd Kaufman himself chat about his career and movie making on the EMMY Nominated episode of “ART or something like it” called “H.O.M.E of King Caricature or a Vulgar ToxieClick here to watch the episode (Note-You must have Realplayer installed to view the episode)

Wacky movie reviews, and “Just Another Feety Bunny”!

March 10, 2008

Well, well well,

Another week has passed, and is time for another blog for your entertainment. There is all kinds of fun time goodness in this posting boy-howdy. I have been busy compositing the scenes for the next clown movie more on than in my next posting. I also watched a bunch of movies; as well as, scanned, digitized, and archived some more art and video.

Here is the quick rundown review of the movies I watched this week:

  1. Eddie Murphy’s “Norbit” – Awful movie, so pathetically bad it makes me wonder what happened to Eddie’s comedic genus. Don’t bother watching this schlock.
  2. Turistas – This pathetic excuse for a horror film seems like it sets out to do for Brazil what Hostel did for Eastern Europe, but miserably fails. Nothing even happens in the movie until about 80% of the way through. Don’t waste your time on this crap either.
  3. Stephen Chow’s “CJ7” – Brilliant movie. Don’t watch this only expecting another Kung Fu Hustle, this movie is something else entirely. This film is an amazing kids movie, with cute characters, silly comedy, and moral lessons to be learned. Go to the theaters right now and watch this fun children’s scifi classic.
  4. Crank – This was a fun mindless action adrenaline rush film. That’s about it. Watch it so you can see Jason Statham kick the shit out of practically everyone else in the film.
  5. Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter – Wow, is just about all I can say. Be sure to watch this with a large group of people. Watch Jesus get his ass kicked, watch as Jesus kicks some ass, watch as Jesus tries to save the lesbians, watch Jesus’s best friend masked wrestler “Santos” save the day and kick more ass. Watch this film for good unwholesome low budget fun.
  6. Swarm of the Snakehead – A movie who’s selling point is that it features Leatherface’s Gunner Hansen. Some interesting moments in the silly attempt to make a family friendly low budget horror comedy, but it was rather hard to get past the really horrible digital effects, CGI, and terrible video image quality. The DVD looked like it was made in iDVD or some other free DVD authoring software and edited on some nonlinear editing system that was made back in the 80’s. Watch this for some good Mystery Science Theater action with friends around to help you suffer through it.

Outside of movie watching I had the chance to archive and post some old artwork:

Below is a photo I took of a friend that worked at the Fun House with me back in 1997.  The image was a black and white silver gelatin print that I hand painted.

Chloe in the Fun House

I then decided to dig through some old sketches and upload this drawing:

Just Another Feety Bunny by Brian A. Bernhard

Also, I uploaded a series of old station ID’s I made for CUNY TV back in 2004:

Thats about it for this week.

Stick around, sign up to the mailing list, visit my website, buy some art and watch some videos.

Rock on and fight the power,
