Blights final missing adventure? Help support “Lencho”, & Some thoughts about the week.

June 29, 2009

Greetings and salutations,

This post marks the final episode in this chapter of Blights “Missing Adventures”, I will be posting other comic strips, its just that Blight the Clown will be taking a break from the internet to work on his book. Also, check out the trailers for my friends movie, “Lencho”, he has been kicking ass on it for several months now and it should prove to be pretty fantastic. He is having a bit of a fundraiser for the movie in a few days so he can try and pay some of his crew. Details are posted in the blog.

The film El Regreso de Lencho (in English it’s The Return of Lencho). It was shot on 16mm film on location in Guatemala in late 2008 (there is also an animated part to the film). It is currently in post production. It’s a Spanish language film about a character named Lencho who uses street art to organize Guatemalan youth–now targeted by the police as insurgents–to express their social justice and human rights concerns in an increasingly corrupt and violent Guatemala. It promotes graffiti art and human rights in a globalized third world.

:::THOUGHTS ON THE WEEK:::

There must be something in the air, the past few weeks have been filled with celebrity death. First David Carradine and his fantastically shocking yet sudden death, then Ed Mcmahon, I guess we saw this one coming, he was old and sick, but sad none-the-less. Then Farrah Fawcett, again sad, but a very public documentary about her cancer prepaired us for it. Then Michael Jackson, I guess this is the one that got to me the most, very tragic and unexpected, just on the verge of a comeback tour, trying to get back on his feet after a very public stoning by a hypocritical society. In his case, I wonder what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. No matter if you love or hate the guy, he had a huge impact on most anybody that grew up in the 80’s. He took music videos to a level that blew peoples minds, I can remember watching the video of the making of Thriller, it was my first glips behind the scenes into the world of filmmaking. Then he bridged the gap between video games and music with an amazing title for the Sega Genesis called Moonwalker, a game where you defeated the bad-guys by dancing! I even remember how the world came to a stop and everyone turned their televisions on at the same time to watch the premiere of his video for “Black & White”.  Michael Jackson even introduced me to one of my all time favorite artists, when Weird Al did the song “Eat It”, that changed my life forever. So it is with a sad heart that I mourn the death of a brilliant artist. Then all-of-the-sudden, I find out that the infomercial guy Billy Mays died this morning. Now, even though it is always sad when someone dies, before last week, I don’t think his death would of personally effected me in anyway, BUT I saw him on Conan O’brien, and for the first time enjoyed his non-salesman personality, he actually made a really funny segment with Conan, and I thought I might even try watching his new television series “Pitchmen”, but I guess it was not meant to be. Such an odd week. Below is a youtube video response to Michael Jackson’s death that seems appropriate to describe the hypocrisy of the public.

JANE ROSE STEALS BLIGHTS NOSE!!! A NEW COMIC STRIP!

June 14, 2009

Holy flim flam bang bang pops on a stick,

It sure has been a while since I posted the last Blight comic strip. This will be the second to last Missing Adventures strip I post before I begin work on the “MIS-ADVENTURES OF BLIGHT THE CLOWN.” The new Blight story will not be posted online as I will be saving that particular story for the book I am working on. After I post the 30th comic strip next week, I will begin posting strips from a new story I am working on called, “PROFESSOR VON GOITER – The Worlds Most Miserable Private Dick.”  In the meantime, I will also be posting little video clips to my Youtube channel as often as possible, so be sure to subscribe to that: http://www.youtube.com/blightproductions

CLOWN MOVIES INVADE THE BACKSEAT FILM FESTIVAL & A NEW COMIC STRIP!!!!

March 9, 2009

Howdy there my famous frolicking friends,

This week, I wanted to let you all know about something stupendously super cool! My clown-noir extravaganza short movie “A CLOWN CAROL” is screening at one of the east coasts most awesome film festivals, Saturday March 14th at “The 2009 Backseat Film Festival”. Not only is it screening along side “Dead Sucks” the vampire horror comedy directed by Elias of Biff Juggernaut Productions (Elias also plays Bobo the Clown in A CLOWN CAROL), but Little Jane Rose, (Blight the Clown’s comic strip nemesis) is also screening her new short called “Heading Home” and my wacky friend Ben Jurin is also showcasing his movie “Even”.

The awesomeness doesn’t stop there! My crazy little clown movie looks like it is going to be the last movie that screens before the days main event! The amazing filmmaker Adam Rifkin, director of great movies like, “The Dark Backward” & “Detroit Rock City” will be presenting his new move, “Homo Erectus”!

Come out to the fest if you can, I will be there all weekend long, so if you ever wanted to chat with me about my wacky clown movies, just find me! Or email me and let me know you are coming!

Scroll down for movie trailers from the film fest!!!

Also, Blight the Clown is back this week in an all new Missing Adventure!

CLOWNLAND – A CLOWN-NOIR COMIC STRIP, Another LIFE STORY, and a whole bunch of T.O.T.S. live show dates!

December 8, 2008

Well, howdy doo folks,

It’s been a while since the last posting. I have been hard at work drawing my fingers to the bone and redesigning parts of the Blight Productions website. In this super sassy posting, I am premiering a new clown-noir comic strip called, “CLOWNLAND“. It’s about a bunch of characters that exist in a world where everyone is a clown, and not everything is funny. I have also posted another one of my “LIFE STORIES” a webcomic that is some how in some way loosely based on events that occur in my life. I am also posting the next few show dates for my band, “THINGS OUTSIDE THE SKIN.” So be sure to read this blog all the way to the end, then forward the link to all your friends, and maybe even a few of you enemy’s.

:::NEWS:::

In addition to drawing my fingers to the bone over the last few weeks, I have been updating the website like crazy and learning a few new little web tools. I updated the webcomics section of my site, so that it is a bit more organized and easier to navigate. And I redesigned the front page to the website to integrate a new tool that I discovered called “Friend Feed”, it is a pretty badass little widget that allows you to redirect all of your web activities, like blog posting, twittering, facebook, myspace, digg, youtube and a whole bunch more into one feed embedded onto your site, so that there is an always updated and active amount of interesting content on you website. Check the tool out here: http://friendfeed.com/. I have also been experimenting with a cool little tool called, “MINGGL”, this is a cool little toolbar plugin for your web browser, that allows you to manage all of you social networks at the same time.  Keep an eye on all the active status messages and twitters in one feed, as well as the ability to post your own status message to twitter, facebook, and myspace at the same time. It is a pretty amazing time saver. Check it out here: http://www.minggl.com/ . I have also posted my Holiday classic movie, “A CLOWN CAROL – The Marley Murder Mystery” on the website “Funny or Die” please check it out and vote my movie FUNNY to keep it active, also repost it to your facebook and myspace, share it with your friends and tell them to vote it FUNNY.  Click here to watch and vote: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/15148744a7/a-clown-carol-the-marley-murder-mystery-from-blightproductions

This Week: TOTS LIVE!!! A Life Story, and a TOTS Music Video!

October 27, 2008

Well, well, well,

It’s a new week, lets see what the Blight Blog has in-store for you good folks.

Well, only 2 days until you crazy die hard fans journey all the way to New York City to see your favorite band, “THINGS OUTSIDE THE SKIN“, perform live for the first time in over a year!  I dug out a crazy comic strip from a few years back, because none of you have ever seen it!  I posted an old TOTS music video, just to remind you of what you all will be experiencing this Wednesday.  And of course, some special Halloween Youtube madness.

-LIFE STORIES #1-
(Click the image for a larger version)

(Click here to purchase a print)

So you might notice, there is no Blight the Clown comic this week.  I have to apologize for that, but I was dragged out of town for a film festival and reunion style thingy.

Last week, I posted on the blog a short film that I shot and co-edited featuring 5 year old kids called, “MacBeth“.  Well, to my surprise it got selected for a film festival last Friday and WON!!!  After 10 years it gets screened and actually works.  That was a pretty cool experience.

I also had to accompany the little lady, some of you folks might know as, “MY RED BALLOON PAL”, to her 10 year college reunion.  Boy oh boy, was that an exciting shindig!

But the real reason that there is no Blight the Clown comic this week is because I have been busting my ass editing a special fun filled horrific horror movie montage to project at Wednesdays, “THINGS OUTSIDE THE SKIN” Spooktacular Halloween Concert!

DON’T FORGET!!!

ONLY 2 MORE DAYS!!!!!!

THINGS OUTSIDE THE SKIN (Featuring Blight the Clown)
OCTOBER 29th 2008
8:00PM – 11:00PM
@ THE ANNEX
152 ORCHARD ST
NEW YORK CITY, NY

-ANOTHER DEAD COMEDIAN-

This is an older music video I made for my band a few years ago.  You can hear my bass in the music, but you don’t see me.  This is because I was behind the camera.  Sorry, next TOTS video I make, I promise will have Blight the Clown in it!

:::YOUTUBE MADNESS:::

Lastly, I will leave you all with an old classic Youtube video, in good Halloween fun.

Brick Throwin’ Bastards In Blight’s NEW Comic Strip And Pretty Soon I Am Gonna Blow Up A Moose!

September 28, 2008

Howdy, three times, in a pumpkin patch,

I wrote a little poem for you:

“Ode to a pickle tree”

Bing bong boing,
Someone flip a coin,
I broke a slippery bone,
Last night on the phone,
Imply what you will,
Please delay the kill,
Then read the latest strip,
So I can take you on a trip.

Here it is, the bomb diggity, the shiznat, the craziest clown there ever was…

:::NEWS:::

Just to give my loyal friends and fans the heads up, my good friend Barry Mitchell (Scroogie the Clown from “A CLOWN CAROL”, everyone from “Intelligent Design-The Music Video” and formerly “The Polka Guy” from ABC World News Now) and I have collaborated again on a new video featuring everyone’s (least) favorite “politician”, Sarah Palin.  I am working on the post-production and animation as fast as I can so I can bring it to you as soon as possible.  I would like to get it to you in time for the vice presidential debate on Thursday, but I am not 100% sure that is realistic, but I will try.  That being said, you may receive a mid-week blog update from Blight Productions if it happens.

:::FUN FOUND VIDEO:::

I found a really amazing piece of video on Youtube I thought I would share featuring a badass juggling routine.  Check it out:

PREMIERE!! Blight the Clown in, “Not Everything is in Black & White” #1

September 22, 2008

Howdy folks,

I made a new comic strip,
just for you.
It’s all black and white,
there is no blue.
This is a new series,
I will make more than one.
A black and white Blight,
I hope you find it fun.

Well, an all new series if black and white Blight the Clown comic strips is upon us.  I hope you enjoy them.  For those of you that like the color ones, do not worry, they will be back.

So, for you all that don’t know yet, I just got a unicycle.  I started learning to ride this weekend.  It is a rather tricky task, but after watching this video of a guy riding his unicycle in the city, I feel a bit more inspired.  I am not saying I will EVER come close to doing what this guys does, but maybe I will actually be able to ride it more than 2 rotations before falling off.

Enjoy the week,

Blight the Clown’s sleepy time and really loud snores,
I made a new comic and I finished just in time,

:::OTHER NEWS:::

In the spirit of helping promote the art community, here is a trailer for my friend Mario’s (AKA. MaRs Attack!!!) newest film.  Enjoy!

-El REGRESO de LENCHO. Volume 2-TeASER #1-

:::OTHER OTHER NEWS:::

As most of you know, promotion is the most difficult part of being an artist.  I can make stuff all day long, but if no one ever sees it, what’s the point, other than a bit of therapy for the soul.  The challenge as an artist is to make things that people are interested in.  I am not the best mind reader in the world, I have no idea what the world is interested in, so I make things that interest me and hope that it is enough.  I like to think that if I am interested in it, that someone else somewhere else in this great big ball of a planet might find it interesting as well.

In this current age of digital revolution, there are half a million ways to promote your work.  The key is to tap into the right ones.  I really have no idea what the right ones are, so I have tried my best to make some kind of connection with all the networking tools I have been able to access.   The best most reliable connection seems to be a direct email list, but I don’t like to send emails to folks that are not interested in my work; but how are they going to become interested in my work if they have never seen it?

Social networking.  I have tried to make profiles on every damn social networking site that seems worthwhile.  Although, it’s rather hard to figure out what sites are worthwhile and what sites are not.  For links to my various profiles on social networks please click here: BLIGHT PRODUCTIONS SOCIAL NETWORKS.

But I still believe that direct email is the best way to directly keep you informed, so if you are not signed up to the email list, or you know of a friend you think might be interested, please visit the site here :BLIGHT PRODUCTIONS, or send your friends a link to the site: http://www.blightproductions.com.  I got some really cool stuff in the works, so stay tuned.

Blight the Clown goes camping in comic strip #20!

September 8, 2008

Greetings and salutations my friendly fiddle faddles,

This week Blight the Clown spends a sleepless night at a random family style campground in:

(Click here for the comic archive)

:::Other News:::

Not a whole lot to post this week except the comic as I have been editing and compositing my latest clown movie.  It is a sweet romantic clown love story.  It’s been taking me a while, I hope it will be worth the wait.

I did however come across a pretty entertaining piece of video showcasing the rock band, “Rage Against the Machine” performing at the RNC.  They were apparently not allowed to play at a scheduled protest rally, so they grabbed a megaphone and rocked it acappella style.  Got to love a group that practices what they preach! Enjoy:

-Rage Against the Machine RNC – 09.02.08 (Performs Acappella in Crowd)-

That’s all for this week. Be sure to send a link for the website to all your friends, share the clown love.  Encourage all your friends to sign up to my mailing list.  Help promote your favorite clown comic.  Don’t be selfish and keep Blight all to yourself.  Take him to school for show and tell.  Be the talk of the town.  Be the first one in your town to bring Blight to the masses, you will be a hero!

Take care,
